Your donation to Common Ground Garden carries weight for a number of reasons.
Since Common Ground Garden is a small non-profit project, every little gift is significant. Donations benefit all of the students that come each week to Common Ground. Let us share some delightful stories and photos of donations in everyday action at the Garden…
Common Ground specializes in grain-growing, but–until recently–there was no way to process that grain into flour for cooking with students and volunteers. Then a generous donor reached out to the Garden, offering to purchase the grain mill that was desperately needed for our education programs.
Now students use the grain mill every month to grind corn into masa, and our ancient grains into flour (or brownies, as the students would say). Students, oddly enough, love tasting the fresh flour straight out of the bowl!
Twenty-five healthy Pineberry plants were given to Common Ground Garden by a kind donor, who didn’t even know how badly students wanted a berry garden.
The students gleefully planted these pineapple-tasting strawberries in the Garden’s mini-orchard. Now, every week, they go to check their specific Pineberries for fruit!
Do you have some plants, seeds, or tools you would like to gift to garden education? Reach out to the Common Ground Garden manager.
Slow Food South Bay decided to sponsor the Heritage Garden Bed for our Spanish class. This money then goes into purchasing the needed tools and seeds for the bed. These donations are especially important, since Common Ground often doesn’t have enough tools for all of our students. These gifts make it possible for students from local schools to continue coming to the Garden weekly.
Sponsoring a bed is a great opportunity for you or your organization to make a financial contribution to our Garden Education Program. Our program thrives on generous donations from members of our community. We are so grateful for your contribution!
For a donation of $200, we will create a hand-crafted sign with your or your organization’s name on it, acknowledging your generous gift to our garden. The sign will be prominently displayed in front of your designated garden bed. All beds are approximately 80 square feet and will host the hand-planted veggies from our student classes. The food harvested will feed our students, volunteers, staff and members of the community. Visitors to the garden will see your generous contribution to our programming.
To sponsor a bed, just follow these simple 4 steps:
1. Use the donation submission form below.
2. Choose “other” for the amount option and write in “$200-Bed Sponsor”
3. Check the box under “Tribute Gift”. When the info populates below, in the field “honoree name”, write exactly what you would like your sign to say.
4. Be sure to include your email and/or phone number under “Donor Information.” That way we can contact you to make sure we have the details of your sign correct
